Amazon’s first upfront presentation took place this morning at Pier 36 in N.Y., and the company announced a slate of sports documentaries as well as the opening matchup for “Thursday Night Football.” The Bills and Dolphins will lead off TNF on Prime Video, and studio talent Charissa Thompson, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tony Gonzalez led the sports section of Amazon’s upfront presentation following an introduction from Keke Palmer.
A sports sizzle reel highlighted the NFL, NWSL, WNBA and NASCAR on Prime Video, with Jay Marine, vice president of Prime Video and global head of sports, emphasizing that Prime Video will be the home of Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever’s home opener against the N.Y. Liberty Thursday evening.
Amazon’s NASCAR deal kicks into gear next year, and the company announced it will begin its coverage of Cup Series races with the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25, 2025. Dale Earnhardt Jr. had already announced he would be joining Prime Video to call the races, but the retired racer appeared at today’s presentation to announce an untitled, four-part racing documentary.
Prime Video also announced an untitled “EA Madden” documentary, a five-part anthology series “Game 7” and a true crime documentary “ChiefsAholic: A Wolf in Chiefs Clothing.” The company renewed “Coach Prime” for a third season.
Roger Federer surprised the crowd to announce a June 20 premiere date of “Federer: Twelve Final Days” as well as the first teaser trailer.
